What Do You Desire?

What did you think of the video/speech?

What do I desire?............ To be my own boss in a creative environment.

I'm not usually affected by thought provoking videos, but this one got me! Perhaps it's because I've been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do in life, and although my current job is not so bad for what it is, job safety is a major issue! There is only a year left on the current contract of the business and if it doesn't make money then the chances are highly likely that the plug will be pulled on it. Deep down Ialso know this isn't the line of work that I want to do for the rest of my life!

Recently I've been doing a lot of soul searching and I always come back to wanting to do the same thing, and I feel if I don't at least try then I will never know!
I've always wanted my own business, but there have been times when I feel like I haven't got the motivation to carry it through which saddens me, but recently it was pointed out that I'm still only 25 which is still fairly young, and now our new house is finally getting somewhere close to liveable and my sewing room is nearly done, I'm feeling more motivated than ever before.

What do you Desire?

  2. I'm 24, and in a similar boat. I definitely want to own my own business one day, so I'm spending my time working at job I like (that pays the bills) while learning all I can about every craft I can get my hands on! One day I will take the plunge into working for myself, and I'm sure you can too! You can do it!!

  3. You've got to try it at least. I know the saying is corny but it's true, it's better to have 'oh wells' than 'what ifs'.

  6. Great video! And of course he has a point, one should do what one desires. If a creative career is what you long for, then go for it! One can always find a new "bread-job"...
Me, I actually don't long for a creative job. It would be fun to have a creative side-business, but I've thought about it quite a lot the past year, and a huge part of my creativity comes from no-deadlines freedom and an ease of mind that I can make rent, bills and food every month no matter what. I need security to be crative, otherwise I just fret =) But... a little independent creative business on the side, where I can set the pace myself... that would be nice!

I hope you'll find a way to do what you desire!
